Political Turmoil

Beginning three years ago, with the election of Jason Van Eperen and Ron Wolff to our Grand Chute Town Board, which produced a major change in direction for the Board, there has been nothing but political turmoil, animosity and contempt perpetrated by those associated with the ‘old regime’ against ‘the New Board.’ This turmoil continues ad nauseam.   Our residents want it to stop, and deserve it to stop, but it continues.  The changes in direction implemented by the New Board are improvements residents have desired for many years.  These changes include stopping special assessments, new found respect and protection for property owner rights, listening to resident voices, and transparency in government operations.

So why do the political attacks continue?  The acts that have been committed are devastatingly divisive and personal in nature.  They have harmed those of us who have been the target of the attacks.  They have been costly and disruptive to our government operations and they have tarnished the image of our Town.  The goal of the attacks has been to remove Ron Wolff, Jason Van Eperen and me from the Town Board.  This truth will become evermore clear in the coming days and weeks as information begins to come out that is associated with the Jim March lawsuit, as well as from other sources.

While we, who have been attacked understand the goal desired by the those aligned with the old regime, we do not understand the reason the old regime finds it so important to be back in control of the Town.  There are only three possible reasons to explain all of the wrath being directed against the New Board.  Is it because the ego of some people previously in power has been bruised?  Is it because some people want to regain power in order to bring back special assessments?  Or, are certain people attempting to avoid having evidence of past activities discovered as the New Board continues to question past practices and to implement direction desired by our residents?  Aside from these three possibilities, there is no other reasonable explanation for what has been going on.  Given that the political attacks typically involve media hype, it might be prudent to ignore the “noise” and to seek out the real facts.
